The Geneva Rod Franks trumpet was designed for Rod Franks, Principal Trumpet of the London Symphony Orchestra. Rod brought his expertise, experience and his awareness of other trumpet models to fulfill the essential elements to produce, what Rod himself feels, is the most versatile trumpet for the professional market.
The Geneva Rod Franks trumpet features a yellow brass lead-pipe, incorporating a standard configuration with an even taper from entry point, producing unparalleled tuning, control and response.
The Rod Franks trumpet also features a 4 ¾” yellow brass bell which creates an even tone and a clear sound throughout the trumpet range. The response from the yellow brass bell enables the player the flexibility to determine their own musical identity for a definitive performance.
The Rod Franks trumpet is supplied standard and heavy valve bottoms as standard. The extra weight in the heavy bottoms adds focus to the instrument’s core sound and provides greater projection.
“A superb trumpet and one which I am proud to be involved in the development of, it is truly representative of Great British design and engineering. My new trumpet has already been used on the soundtracks of two blockbuster films- the latest being Harry Potter movie and Thor.
It is so easy to play in all registers, has lots of musical colours, and you have so many options as to how it looks and sounds. I’m thrilled with it, and after 22 years helping Yamaha, I have told Tim Oldroyd at Geneva that I think I know how to compete with the big trumpet makers. My students at the Royal Academy of Music [London] also describe these instruments as simply superb, and are a 'dead cert' to fly off the shelves because of looks, sound and competitive pricing.
My colleagues in the LSO, on many sections, have commented on its sound as well as the great conductors Gergiev and Haitink- that’s good enough for me. Watch out Yamaha and Bach... there's a new kid on the block!”
